How I agree costs

Cost is not the most important consideration when choosing your solicitor, but it is an important one nevertheless. This area of the website tells you a little more about how I work this out with you.

Meet for a Coffee…

Sometimes we put off taking advice because we are worried about the cost of it or what is involved.

I do my best to make sure that cost is not a barrier to clients seeking help.

I am happy to meet with you first to talk you through your matter and the likely costs of it, whilst also making sure we are able to work together. This way we can get to know each other a little  better and I can let you know what to expect.

If you are not sure and want to talk over the process, meet me over coffee and we can go from there.

What costs information can you expect from me?

Costs and timescales are outlined to you at an early stage. Costs and planning for that cost is a commitment we both make to one another.

Even if we are not sure what is involved with your matter initially because we need to do some investigation, we will agree a price structure for that initial work. I pride myself on my commitment to price transparency.

Fixed Fees

The majority of the work I do for clients is fixed fee, with the exception of some occasions where this is not possible. I prefer to work on this basis and I find that a fixed fee allows you to budget and plan ahead for the cost of the your legal work with me.

Where a fixed fee is offered, we will consider together whether any circumstances may arise that causes more work. Again, even where this situation arises we will discuss it first.

Solicitors and the Price and Service Transparency Rules

Choosing a solicitor is not just about price and it can come down to a number of factors. How much weight you attach to those factors is personal and depends on what is most important to you.

It may be that your solicitor has come highly recommended, or you may feel safe and comfortable talking to that solicitor, and trust them with your work. However, we all need to know our budget to plan our legal affairs and it will always be an important consideration in the solicitor and client relationship.

Solicitors must now publish information about the price of the services we offer, what is included in that price along with details about the person providing that service to you, along with an idea of timescales. I must provide you with this information for my Probate and Conveyancing work therefore please click on the links below to find out more if you are looking for these services. For any other services please contact me to find out more.

Price transparency is not a new concept to me, I am happy for us to be open about it.
